The new Cocorobo vacuum may look and perform like the Roomba vacuum, but it has one defining feature you won’t find on any other vac: it talks!
Cocorobo – a play on the word for “heart,” or “kokoro” in Japanese – can speak English, Japanese and Chinese. It can also take photos of your home and send them to your cellphone, which is handy if you’re running errands and want to check in on your vacuum’s progress.
The talking vac was developed by Sharp Corp. and can say 36 different phrases like “Hello” and “How’s it going?” Not only can you activate controls just by speaking to it, but it replies with simple greetings too. Watch Cocorobo in action here: Cocorobo intelligent vacuum cleaner on YouTube
It’s small size, built-in camera and LED headlight make moving around the home and cleaning under furniture a snap.
Cocorobo hits stores in Japan next month for a retail price of $1,600 (or $1,100 for the non-talking version). No mention of its North American debut yet, but it is definitely something to keep on your radar.
